Tox and Fillers

Ready to smooth out fine lines or add a little volume where it counts? Botox and dermal fillers are popular, treatments that target different areas of the face to restore volume or refresh your look.

Neuromodulators, such as BOTOX®, work by relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles—those lines that form from facial expressions like frowning or squinting. It’s perfect for smoothing out forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet around the eyes. Results show up within a week and last about 3 to 4 months.

Our preferred tox is XEOMIN® (pronounced "Zeo-min"), which is sometimes referred to as the “naked” version of BOTOX® because it contains only the active ingredient without any additives or proteins. This purity makes it less likely that your body will develop resistance to the treatment over time, which can be a benefit for long-term use.

  • Neuromodulators temporarily block the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, which prevents muscles from contracting. This relaxation smooths dynamic wrinkles, which form from repeated facial expressions, such as smiling and frowning.

Aside from smoothing wrinkles, tox can also prevent new lines from forming- giving your skin a more youthful, relaxed appearance.

  • Tox treatment has minimal downtime. After the treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but this usually resolves within a few hours to a day. You can resume normal activities immediately, though you should avoid strenuous exercise or lying down for a few hours after treatment to prevent migration of the toxin.

  • The number of units needed depends on the area treated and individual muscle strength. Here’s a general breakdown of common treatment areas:

    • Forehead lines: 15-25 units

    • Frown lines (between the eyebrows): 10-20 units

    • Crow’s feet (around the eyes): 8-14 units

    • Bunny lines (on the nose): 4-6 units

    • Lip flip (upper lip): 4-8 units

    • DAOs: 4-8 units

    • Masseter tox: 30-40 units per side

These amounts can vary based on personal anatomy, and your provider will adjust based on muscle activity and desired results.

  • Neuromodulators are FDA-approved and have been used safely for both medical and cosmetic purposes for decades. When administered by a trained healthcare provider, the risks are minimal. Possible side effects include temporary bruising, headaches, or eyelid drooping, which typically resolve on their own.

Dermal Fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin. They add volume to areas that have lost structure, such as the lips, cheeks, or nasolabial folds (smile lines). And on to our go-to fillers...

Ravenesse Versa is perfect for plumping lips and adding definition to cheeks, thanks to its smooth hyaluronic acid formula that’s designed to create a natural lift without too much swelling or downtime. It lasts up to 12 months, so it’s a great option for those looking to enhance their features with minimal upkeep.

Belotero Balance is ideal for nasolabial folds, and for delicate areas like vertical lip lines and tear troughs. Its softer, more flexible texture makes it perfect for filling fine lines and adding subtle volume in thinner-skinned areas, lasting around 6-12 months.

  • Dermal fillers work by adding volume to areas that have lost structure or elasticity, such as the cheeks, lips, and deeper "static" lines (like nasolabial folds). Tox temporarily freezes a muscle to reduce wrinkles, particularly "dynamic" lines which form from facial expressions.

  • Fillers may cause mild swelling, redness, or bruising, particularly in areas like the lips or cheeks, which can last up to a week. While there's minimal downtime, it's recommended to avoid strenuous activity, excessive heat, or alcohol for 24 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.

  • The best type of filler depends on the area being treated and the desired outcome. A consultation with your provider will help determine which type is best suited for your goals and facial structure.

  • Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers like Ravenesse Versa and Belotero Balance are FDA-approved and biocompatible, as hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body. Serious side effects are rare, but improper injection technique can lead to complications such as infection, lumpiness, or, in rare cases, vascular occlusion. That's why it's important to choose a skilled injector.
